Fire crews responded at 10:39 p.m. to a fire alarm at the Carroll Towers at 200 North Second Street, according to the St. Charles Fire Department. When they arrived, crews found a fire in the kitchen of a second-floor apartment where a female resident was trapped.
A 21-year-old Mount Prospect man is facing charges that he killed and tried to conceal the death of a man found inside a burning vehicle last week in the northwest suburban village. Paul A. Zalewski was charged with felony counts of first-degree murder and concealment of a homicidal death in the case, according to a statement released Thursday by Mount Prospect police.
Skokie police have removed a car that crashed into a Best Buy Thursday morning.
