One man was fatally shot on the 8100 block of South Wabash on Monday around 12:14 a.m. Police said a man was standing on the sidewalk when two black males approached him and fired shots. The victim was taken to St. Bernard’s and was later pronounced. He was shot in the head and chest.

Twelve people were in need of shelter Christmas morning after an extra-alarm fire broke out at a Fernwood neighborhood home on the Far South Side. Firefighters responded to the blaze shortly after 6 a.m. at a two-story house in the 10400 block of South State, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

A man was shot and seriously wounded early Sunday in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side. The 24-year-old was in a vehicle about 1:05 a.m. traveling in the 5800 block of South King when another vehicle pulled alongside and someone fired shots, according to Chicago Police.

About 3:50 a.m., the 26-year-old was the front passenger in a vehicle, stopped at a light in the 1200 block of West Van Buren when a Dodge Challenger pulled alongside and the man got into an argument with the other driver, according to Chicago Police.

About 4:45 a.m., the 24-year-old man and 18-year-old woman were in a vehicle heading south in the 5900 block of South Western when a van pulled alongside them in traffic and someone inside fired shots, according to Chicago Police. The van’s make and model was unknown.

Six people were injured when a man driving a stolen SUV ran a red light and crashed with three other vehicles Thursday night in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. About 10:40 p.m., the suspect was driving a 2007 Infiniti SUV west in the 4400 block of West Washington when he ran a red light at Kostner and was struck by a 2005 Buick van, according to Chicago Police. This caused a chain reaction in which the Infiniti struck two other vehicles and then flipped onto its side.
