A person was shot Sunday afternoon on I-80 in southwest suburban Joliet. A male, whose age was unknown, was shot at 4 p.m. while traveling on the ramp from Richards Street on to westbound I-80, according to Illinois State Police District 5.

State child welfare authorities are investigating the death of a 6-year-old boy who was found unresponsive in a bathtub early Friday in the South Side Park Manor neighborhood. A family member found the boy in the bathtub about 4:45 a.m. in the 7400 block of South Evans, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. The boy, who lived a few blocks away in the Grand Crossing neighborhood, was taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Shannon Marci Jefferson Lozano, of the 10500 block of Cascade Place in Wheaton, was charged with first-degree murder of her great-grandmother, Doris Elizabeth Shelton, of the same address.

One person died and an officer was wounded by gunfire Thursday night in a police-involved shooting in west suburban Aurora, police said. Gunfire was exchanged between officers and more than one person in the area of Galena Boulevard and LaSalle Street, Aurora police said.
A person was arrested Thursday night after leading police on a chase and causing a crash that left two women injured on the Northwest Side. Someone flagged down an officer at 9:18 p.m. in the 4000 block of North Harlem to report a possible man with a gun, according to Chicago Police. After the officer tried to pull over the male suspect’s vehicle, he turned off his lights and drove through the parking lot of the Harlem Irving Plaza, 4104 Harlem Ave. in neighboring Harwood Heights, in an effort to lose the officer.

A Lawndale man was charged Wednesday in connection with grabbing, touching and stealing from a woman on a West Side Blue Line platform in December. Jesse Winford, 29, of the 2700 block of West Harrison Street, was charged with felony counts of criminal sexual abuse and aggravated battery in a public place, according to Chicago Police.
A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the South Side. The crash happened at 8:16 p.m. in the inbound lanes of Interstate 94 near 33rd Street, according to Illinois State Police.

Four juveniles were waiting at a bus stop about 8 a.m. in the 2500 block of Barkwood Road when a man drove up to them and asked “need a lift?” The juveniles said they were waiting for the bus and the man drove away, Schaumburg police said.
