The St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office charged a 24-year-old man for the April 2017 death of a Belleville toddler. According to Captain Bruce Fleshren, a spokesman for the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were sent to a home in the 2600 block of Eastview Drive just after 1:10 a.m. on April 14 for a reported child death.
A man is in custody in connection to Thursday night's fatal shooting during an armed robbery at a Target parking lot on the South Side. The shooting happened about 8 p.m. Thursday near 33rd St. and Damen in the McKinley Park neighborhood. Sources close to the investigation say the man who shot and killed the 21-year-old had a concealed carry permit.
A bicyclist died after being struck by a SUV that drove away from the crash Thursday night in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side, police said. The bicyclist, a 46-year-old man, was struck from behind about 5:30 p.m. by a 2009 Saturn Outlook headed east in 3800 block of West Augusta Boulevard, Chicago Police said.

A suburban police officer charged with shooting his son during an apparent argument over a bottle of vodka. The judge in this case called the allegations "disturbing" and ordered 48-year old cop to be held with bail no bail. Prosecutors say a high ranking suburban police officer shot his son inside of the home on the Southwest Side.

A teenage boy was shot Wednesday night in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side. The 17-year-old was walking on the sidewalk about 9 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Washtenaw when someone fired shots from a black car, according to Chicago Police.
A man was found shot to death Wednesday night in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, police said. Officers responding to a call of a person shot about 9 p.m. found the 30-year-old on a sidewalk in the 700 block of North Trumbull with gunshot wounds to his abdomen and back, Chicago Police said.
Two people were wounded in a shooting Wednesday night in the Gage Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side. The males, whose ages weren’t immediately known, were shot just after 8 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Whipple, according to preliminary information from Chicago Police.

A 7-Eleven clerk shot and critically wounded an alleged robber late Monday in west suburban Oak Park. Police responded to an armed robbery about 11:30 p.m. at the convenience store in the 200 block of Chicago Avenue in Oak Park and found a man lying on the floor bleeding from the abdomen, according to village spokesman David Powers.
