Two people were taken into custody Tuesday night after a man fired a handgun into the ground during a fight on the Near North Side. Officers responded about 10:20 p.m. to a call of shots fired in the 1100 block of North Dearborn and obtained a description of a vehicle that was involved in the incident, according to Chicago Police. Officers then spotted the vehicle in the first block of West Oak and approached a 51-year-old man who was changing a tire.

Three people were injured Tuesday night when a car crashed into a light pole on Lake Shore Drive near the Hyde Park neighborhood on the South Side. A black Dodge Charger was speeding north shortly before 11:30 p.m. when the driver lost control and crashed into the pole in the 5400 block of South Lake Shore Drive, according to Chicago Police.
A person was found dead outdoors Monday evening in the South Side Avalon Park neighborhood, according to Chicago Police. The male, whose exact age wasn’t known, was found about 8:50 p.m. in the 8100 block of South Stony Island, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office didn’t immediately confirm the death.

At 1:18 a.m., the 23-year-old showed up at Rush, 1653 W. Congress Parkway, with gunshot wounds to his right calf and left thigh, according to Chicago Police. He was being transferred to Stroger Hospital.

Police in the South Suburbs have left a home they surrounded earlier today leading to a tense standoff. Police used a loudspeaker to ask a man to exit a home with his hands in the air. The activity appeared to be centered around a home on Ellis near Lincoln Avenue.
