A man who threatened to shoot himself was wounded during a confrontation with SWAT officers near the University of Chicago campus on Wednesday morning.

A young man was shot today after he had barricaded himself into an apartment at 1327 E. 61st St. A police spokesman confirmed that the victim was shot following a barricade situation after 3rd District and University of Chicago police, including a SWAT team and a mobile command center, responded to the scene.
